I went to the AR Literary Festival this weekend specifically to see Frank Warren speak about his project “Postsecret”. I really enjoyed what he had to say even though the people running the festival were so disorganized. He asked us if we knew what the number 1 secret was. Someone shouted out, “cheating”. He said, “anyone else”? No one said a word. He said, “So that’s all you got, Little Rock?” Then he said the answer was, “I pee in the shower”. And he went on to add that it was illustrated in all types of wonderful ways. He said that he receives between 100-200 postcards PER DAY. I hope they bring him back next year. I hope they are more organized so I don’t feel like I need to hide under my chair in shame. I hope they let us spend more time with him.

This is a postcard that he posted last Sunday. For those of you that don’t know, he posts new postcards every Sunday. The first thing I do when I wake up is check the web site. I haven’t sent in a postcard. I know I have secrets but the scary part is uncovering them.

I bought a single “Kraft Snackables String Cheese” today at the grocery store. As I was munching on it I saw the following WARNING label on the package, “Safety First! Open the wrapper with your hands, not your teeth.” I mean…really? What is the worst that is going to happen if you use your teeth? It’s cheese, people. I think they just had white space they had to fill in and this was the best they could come up with. Sad, so very sad.

My sister-in-law and I went on a movie marathon on Saturday. It was a spontaneous suggestion on her part. Jason had to work so he couldn’t go. We got our picks lined out and I charted out the times that we could make to the different movies. Our first stop was a 3:15pm showing of Borat. It was amusing but not as funny as I thought it would be. I guess I just had heard that people were laughing for an hour and a half straight and that is what I was expecting. I did (surprisingly) find myself squirming a little every now and then. I really didn’t think any of it would bother me. Sacha Baron Cohen cracks me up though. Our next movie started at 4:40pm. I looked down at my watch at 4:40pm and we were still in Borat and I didn’t see an end in sight. It finally ended at 5pm and we darted to the next movie, Running With Scissors. It was great though because we sat down and literally the movie started the next second. The movie was ok. It was very sad/depressing. The fact that it is based on someone’s memoir is even MORE depressing. I don’t know that I could recommend it necessarily…maybe just a rental. The movie ended at 7pm and the next movie started at 7pm…except that it was across town and that theater only takes cash. So we had to go to the ATM and then head to the next theater. We skidded in at 7:15pm and it had only been running for a couple minutes. Here was saw Jesus Camp. I thinked I crapped in my pants a few times throughout the movie. It was great in an awful way. I highly recommend it. It was extrememly disturbing. Ted Haggard was in the movie as well. First thing he talked about was how homosexuality is immoral because the Bible tells us so. I wasn’t as affected by it as Heather. She was raised in an evangelical-style upbringing (not hardcore like the movie but she definitely saw a LOT of similiarities). Needless to say we had to go have a drink immediately after the movie.

Heather works for a local newspaper that was sponsoring a free showing of Babel tonight so she got us tickets. Jason didn’t go because he was cranky so it was just Heather and I again (I actually saw my sweet friends, Rachel and Sarah Spencer!!!). Babel was a really good movie. But be prepared to leave feeling like tiny pieces of your heart has been ripped out and stomped on. It was pretty depressing as well. The movie was very Magnolia and Love Actually style…which I love. I would definitely recommend this movie. I also loved that the only big names were Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Everyone else in the movie was unknown.

I might be all movied out for awhile…we’ll see.

I was browsing around yesterday and I saw that Time magazine had posted their picks of the 50 best web sites. It was there that I found this one. I don’t really know what to say. I mean, it is a GREAT site if you need a pick-me-up. If you go to this site and aren’t immediately turned into mush, then you have a black heart, people. I would recommend starting here. Then proceeding to here and then directly here. And then browse around at will. You might have to visit this site in installments because all the cuteness might make your head explode.

Today, July 10, is my 2 year wedding anniversary with Jason. I love you, Jason. You are the sweetest of all sweeties!!!
And congratulations to Robert and Kathy on 6 years and recently to Jennifer and David on 10!

I won’t ruin who the winner is in case you haven’t seen it yet but just know that the person that won is the person that I wanted to win. More importantly though…why was David Hassellhoff crying when the winner was announced. WEIRD-O. And is Prince’s career on such rocks that he needs to come on American Idol? I mean, I like the show, right, but I also realize that it is no masterpiece. Also very strange. By the way I was just curious to see how long it would take cnn.com to update their first page announcing the new Idol. It took about 1 minute from when the words left Ryan’s mouth. Impressive.
